How to check how much money you have spent on Steam

Steam has an official page that shows how much money you have spent during the entire existence of your account. It is hidden quite deeply, so most people use third-party calculators - but they calculate something completely different.
The official Steam page with a total of expenses for the entire time, how this amount differs from the cost of the library and why third-party calculators show a different number.
The official method
Open help.steampowered.com, log into your account and find the section with your account information. Inside there is a page with expenses - there Steam shows the total amount spent for the entire time, separately the amounts passed through the wallet, and external payments.
This is the most accurate number that exists: it is calculated by Steam himself using his payment records. No third party service has access to this data.
Nearby is the purchase history - you can see each transaction with the date, payment method and amount. Useful if you need to find a specific payment or confirm account ownership during recovery.
Three different figures
Amount of expenses - how much real money went into Steam. This is what the official page shows.
Library cost - how much all your games would cost if you bought them today at current prices. Usually this number is much higher than the amount of expenses, because almost everything was bought at sales. This is what most third-party calculators show, and this is what people brag about in the comments.
Inventory cost is the market price of a skins and items. It has nothing to do with expenses at all: the inventory could be collected from free drops.
None of these numbers are “account value.” Accounts in Steam are not for sale, and an attempt to sell them violates the rules and ends in blocking.
- Screenshot of the expenses page - sensitive data, payment details are visible there.
- Third-party calculators do not need to log into Steam, a public link is enough.
- If the amount seems too high, check your purchase history for gifts purchased for other people.
Third-party calculators
They read the public list of your games and multiply by the current store prices. This turns out to be the cost of the library, not the expenses. Many also count in dollars, which adds to the discrepancy.
You can use them, but only if you understand what exactly you are seeing. For the actual amount of spending there is only the official page.
There is no requirement to log in via Steam for this calculation: the list of games is public information, available via the profile link.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I see how much has been spent in Steam?
On the official expenses page in the account details section of help.steampowered.com. The total amount for the entire time is indicated there.
Why does the calculator show more?
He considers the cost of the library at current prices, and not actual expenses. Games purchased on sale are valued at full price in this calculation.
Is the cost of skins included in the cost?
Purchases on the Marketplace come from the Steam wallet and are included in expenses through wallet replenishments, but the market price of the inventory is a separate number.
Do I need to login to Steam for a third party calculator?
No. The list of games is public, just a link to the profile. Requesting a password or Guard code is a reason to close the site.
Is it possible to find out how much another person spent?
No. The amount of expenses is visible only to the account owner. Third-party services will only show the cost of his public library.
